We tried so many therapists, and we are still shopping for new therapists. It’s always hard to find a good one. Remember therapist matters, not the company! I found even for a 5 star reviews company, you still (actually a great chance) can get a not so experienced therapist. Almost all the company will assign you a newbie if you don’t ask for an experienced one. So look at what are the good names in those online review or the team information on their website and ask them for an experienced therapist!
Below are the ones we trust and are using.
Physical Therapy
Andre got diagnosed with low muscle tone in March 2018 by Dr. Bauman in Casa Colina Hospital. However we could not get any Physical Therapy services when we were under the San Gabriel/Pomona Regional center. It’s always very hard to get PT service from the regional center, even you really need it!
Below are the ones we are using right now through our own insurance. We have three physical therapists from different clinics! They work in different ways but are all great and extremely helpful.
Karen with 123 Pediatric Therapy
Karen is a great PT. She is very experienced, patient, and knowledgeable. Andre is picky about working with therapist especially when Mom and I are not with him during the therapy. He liked working with Karen from the first time even without us in the room! She worked Andre on jumping, climbing, standing on one foot, etc. I noticed my son made very good progress every single time after the therapy. She is very considerate as well, as Andre has sleeping issue and sleep very little and woke up very early from time to time. We have to do last minute cancellation for many times. But Karen is always very considerate and never charged us any cancellation fee.
Kim with Physical Therapy Specialists
Kim is so good! She got 27 years experience and her focus is on sensory integration! It’t more like a OT’s job, but she is only better! We saw Andre made great improvement. If your kid has sensory issue, contact Kim!
Karen with Centra Pediatric Therapy
Karen is special and has over 30 years experience! She has been working on Andre’s muscle alignment. It’s like a massage, but so helpful! Andre got drooling issue before. Our OT said it’s because of sensory issue, and our ST said it’s because of the weak muscle of the mouth. But non of the therapy worked. After we saw Karen for 3 times, the drooling was completely gone! Karen explained it because Andre’s head and neck position is not right. That caused the drooling. The muscle alignment got him much better body gesture!
Occupational Therapy
Echo with Carrico Pediatric Therapy
We tried two occupational therapists until we found Echo. She is experienced and very patient with kids. Also she is bilingual - Mandarin Chinese and English! Andre’s Chinese is stronger than English, so Echo is a perfect fit for us.
Grace with Pristine Rehab Care
Grace is also bilingual! She is young, but got experience and her knowledge is very solid. She know how to push Andre to finish more tasks and reach his limit. Very good for his development! His fine motor skills grows fast.
The downside is that the clinic is small and not very clean, and there is NO swing! But again, therapist matters not the clinic! If it’s a good therapist, he/she will know how to get the most of it!
Speech Therapy
Amanda and Belinda with Advantes Speech Therapy
Amanda is one of the very few speech therapists that speak Mandarin Chinese. She got a lot of experience. She always knows how to handle kids more effectively. Andre has made great improvement.
Belinda is very nice and patient. Andre likes her a lot. She is only working on Andre’s English.

Jill with Centra Pediatric Therapy
Jill got over 20 years experience and her knowledge is very solid! She taught us the oral massage, and it’s working great! Andre is tongue and muscle of his mouth are in much better shape now! Highly recommended.
Christina with Direct Therapy
Christina is good! We just started the session with her in mid July 2019. She is so interactive and experienced. Not a lot of drills like other two therapists we are using, but more play and interaction. That’s exactly we want!
